“It was January of 2022 when my husband contacted me and told me he had found a realtor. I have no idea how he found her but he did. And I am extremely grateful that he did.
My husband recently separated from the military and had just finished school in Utah. He was able to find a good job and quickly rushed across the country to North Carolina while I remained in Utah until we were able to find a house. This was not our first time buying a home. We've dealt with several other realtors. Follow along, this will all make sense in just a minute.
In February I traveled to North Carolina to help in the hunt. I must admit that I was becoming antsy. I didn't want to live in my parents basement anymore. I'm an adult! I can have a house! But no, you can't have a house because this market is such a pain right now!
Now enters Sara Montrose. Picture your mature friendly cousin who really knows what she's about but doesn't rub it in your face and offers to help. I'm not actually related to Sara. But she has such a genuine air about her that makes it hard not to like her. I was only in town for a short weekend but she made every effort to help us find a house. We looked at so many houses in such a small amount of time that I'm impressed she kept up. She was flexible as well as dependable. Even after I returned to Utah, I was still included in the search for our house. Which is nice because frankly, my husband should not be trusted to make such decisions completely on his own...It was such a comfort having Sara there who knew what we as the clients wanted and her looking out for our best interests the whole way. Ranging from the offer to the loan and inspections and so on.
We made several offers on several different homes. Sara was gracious enough to walk us through each step of the long and confusing process. We were working with a VA loan and some rather specific things we wanted out of a house. Sara gave us the truth with each house, she was knowledgeable on SO much. Ranging from the loan, or the neighborhood, or the comps, or tons of other things that if she wasn't there, I never would have even thought of. But I nodded my head and acted like I knew. Sara was also very good at respecting my charade of being a responsible homebuyer.
Honestly, buying a home is hard, no matter what the market is like. It's a lot to handle. But having someone who is competent but also genuinely cares about their clients-that's what being a good realtor is. Not someone who gets you in a house right away. But someone who gets you in the right house in the best way! It only took us a few months to find a home, get everything done and getting us situated into our new home. “I was referred to Sara through my dad, he had worked with her prior to her realtor position! He first spoke to Sara about our delicate situation and my dad assured me she could HELP! Within a couple of days, Sara and I connected through a phone call! See, I had always been scared of the home buying process, not just one specific thing but all of it! 🤣 However, with our situation, we needed to find a home to buy and quickly. When I say after the phone conversation Sara and I had, all of my misconception and fears were suddenly lifted is an understatement, I could see us being homeowners.
